Firstly, residents are encouraged to opt for green firecrackers, which minimize environmental impact. When purchasing, scanning QR codes on packages can help verify their authenticity, ensuring the firecrackers are genuinely eco-friendly. To further ensure safety, firecrackers should only be bought from authorized vendors displaying proper licenses. The public is urged to avoid unlicensed sellers and refrain from purchasing firecrackers that create excessive noise or pollution, which can disturb both people and animals.
The Commissioner’s guidance also includes safety measures for families celebrating with children. Parents are advised to supervise children closely, ensuring they do not handle firecrackers themselves. Moreover, firecrackers should only be used in designated open spaces, away from sensitive areas like hospitals, petrol stations, and residential zones. Celebrations must adhere to the Supreme Court’s recommended hours to limit disruptions.
Additional safety precautions are encouraged, such as wearing gloves and protective eyewear and keeping water or a fire extinguisher nearby to quickly address any potential accidents. In the event of an emergency, residents should promptly contact emergency services by dialing 112 or 108.
These safety tips aim to foster a responsible and safe Diwali, balancing festive cheer with precautions for public well-being.
