  • Police raided West Zone bars in Bengaluru for multiple violations
  • 19 establishments had female staff in inappropriate attire and poor hygiene
  • Other breaches included missing security, no smoking zones, and late-night operations.

The Bengaluru City Police conducted surprise raids across several bars and restaurants in the West Zone, uncovering a range of violations related to health, excise, and public conduct regulations. The operation followed specific intelligence inputs received by the city’s Police Commissioner regarding illicit activities at certain nightlife establishments.

The enforcement drive focused on areas under the jurisdiction of Upparpet, Cottonpet, Kalasipalya, Cubbon Park, and Ashoknagar Police Stations. A total of 11 special police teams were deployed to carry out the inspections.

During the raids, authorities found that 19 establishments were in breach of multiple regulations. One of the primary concerns flagged was the employment of female staff in revealing clothing who were reportedly interacting with customers in a manner deemed inappropriate. Investigators noted a lack of designated female security personnel at many of these venues, a key requirement under current safety norms.

Additional infractions included substandard hygiene in kitchen areas, absence of proper smoking zones, and businesses operating beyond legally permitted hours. These conditions raise not only legal concerns but also issues related to public safety and health.

The police are expected to initiate action against the erring establishments, with possible penalties ranging from fines to suspension of operating licenses. Further inspections and monitoring activities are anticipated in the coming weeks to ensure ongoing compliance.
