A couple in MSR Nagar, Bengaluru, faced arrest after a social media post led police to their illicit balcony garden. K. Sagar Gurung (37) and Urmila Kumari (38), originally from Sikkim, run a local fast-food joint. Trouble began when Urmila shared photos and videos on Facebook showcasing decorative plants on their balcony, inadvertently including marijuana (ganja) plants. According to reports, a follower noticed the illegal plants and informed the authorities.

Upon receiving the tip-off, police visited the couple's residence. A relative reportedly warned Urmila to discard the evidence quickly, but officers still found traces of marijuana leaves in the pots. During the search, authorities seized 54 grams of ganja from the premises.
During questioning, the couple admitted to cultivating the weed with the intention of selling it for profit. Initially, Urmila denied sharing the photos, but the police confirmed the posts were made on October 18. The couple’s mobile phones were also confiscated to determine if they had further connections to drug distribution networks.
While the duo was granted station bail, a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This incident highlights how social media activity can sometimes lead to unexpected—and serious—legal consequences.
