Contest had 10 cows contending from Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Bengaluru
At the state-level milking contest held as part of the Dasara festival at J.K. Grounds in Mysuru, a cow owned by Yogesh and Geetha Chowdaiah’s family, hailing from Kamakshipalya, Bengaluru, clinched the top position.
The bovine marvel displayed remarkable prowess by yielding 24.850 kg of milk in the morning session and 21.840 kg in the evening, tallying an impressive 46.690 kg of milk overall.
Securing the second spot was a cow owned by Gopalakrishna from Dudda village in Mandya district, contributing a total of 36.450 kg of milk. Saarav Vinod, residing in Katappa Garadi street in Devaraja Mohalla, Mysuru, achieved the third place with a total milk yield of 34.160 kg.
The deserving victors were duly awarded cash prizes, with the first-place winner receiving Rs. 50,000, the second-place winner receiving Rs. 40,000, and the third-place winner receiving Rs. 30,000. Notably, the competition drew participation from 10 contenders representing districts including Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan and Bengaluru.
An awarding ceremony held at the venue saw District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa and Animal Husbandry Minister K. Venkatesh giving the prizes to the winners. The event also included a special recognition for cow owners (Gopalakas) and progressive farmers.
Notable attendees at the ceremony included Deputy Director of the Veterinary Department, Nagaraju, ZP Secretary Krishnamraju, and members of the Raitha Dasara Sub-Committee.
