Bengaluru: Darshan expected to join meeting called by Sumalatha ahead of Lok Sabha election

Mandya is shaping up to be an interesting contest for the Lok Sabha 2024 election. Sumalatha who had lobbied for a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket has now called a meeting consisting of well wishers and supporters in Bengaluru. There are reports that attempts are being made to include Induvala Sachidananda, a close confidant of Sumalatha who is said to have differences with Sumalatha in the meeting. His absence will prove to be a setback for Sumalatha. 

This will be the first time that Mandya will witness a three-way battle in the Lok Sabha election. In 2019 as well, the contest was closely observed throughout the country. Sumalatha had earlier made a declaration that it is certain that she would contest from Mandya. The Mandya Lok Sabha seat was given to the Janata Dal (Secular) JD(S) as part of their alliance with the BJP.

 It is in light of this development that Sumalatha has called the meeting. The meeting would take place at her residence at 4 PM. 100-150 prominent personalities are expected to partake in the meeting. They belong to 8 Vidhana Sabha constituencies. Their advice will be sought. Sandalwood star Darshan is also expected to join the meeting. There are speculations that Darshan will attempt to get Induvala on board. This meeting will be important in the context of how the results will shape up ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
