The renaming ceremony took place in the presence of Bhumik’s grieving parents, who were visibly moved by the gesture. Local MLA Muniraju led the initiative, fulfilling what he described as a promise to honour the memory of Bhumik and support his family’s healing journey.

Bhumik had become a symbol of the unseen dangers that can emerge during uncontrolled public gatherings. He was among the fans who had gathered to celebrate RCB’s performance when a sudden rush in the crowd led to a deadly stampede, taking his life and injuring several others. His death had triggered public outrage and calls for better crowd management at large events.

The newly renamed “Bhumik Udyanavana” now stands as a quiet but powerful memorial in her neighbourhood, a place he once cherished. MLA Muniraju stated that this act was not just about renaming a park but about keeping his memory alive and reminding everyone of the importance of safety during public events.
