Tech giant Dell  has expressed its willingness to expand its R&D centre in Bengaluru.

An industry delegation from Karnataka led by M.B. Patil, Minister for Large and Medium Industries & Infrastructure had a meeting with representatives of Dell including Michael Dundas of Global Manufacturing Operations and Technology, Alan Richey, Senior Vice-President, Legal, and Tabrez Ahmad, Director, Asia Pacific and Japan, Govt. Affairs and Public Policy, in Texas on 30th September. “Dell, the $50 billion tech giant from Texas, USA, is gearing up to expand its R&D team in Bengaluru. They're seeking state support to overcome import restrictions in SEZ operations. Had productive discussions with Dell's team on Friday. They shared their needs for the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing ecosystem in the state,” MB Patil posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Dell stated its intent in enhancing its cost sustainability to further expand in India. This was reiterated by Dell in its public statement. “The company sought support from the Karnataka government to overcome import restrictions on Special Economic Zone (SEZ) operations, which would enhance cost sustainability for Dell's expansion in India. Dell also put forth its requirements with respect to ESDM ecosystem players and suppliers in the state,” Dell stated.

An important research and development centre of Dell is already established in Bengaluru. The office is located in the Bagmane tech park.
