In a proactive move towards addressing Bengaluru’s recurring flood issues, Development Minister DK Shivakumar visited flood-prone areas near Manyata Tech Park, accompanied by civic officials and urban planners. The inspection aimed to assess the challenges posed by encroachments and unregulated development, especially in zones where natural stormwater pathways have been disrupted.

During the site visit, the minister emphasized the government’s commitment to sustainable urban growth that respects ecological systems. Stressing the importance of balancing infrastructure expansion with environmental responsibility, he noted that unchecked construction near key tech corridors has been a major contributor to waterlogging and drainage issues.

Highlighting a breakthrough in the collaborative approach, the minister revealed that three major landowners in the vicinity have agreed to fully cooperate with the government's flood mitigation efforts. Their willingness to support corrective measures, including realignment of stormwater drains, was welcomed as a step in the right direction.
The minister reaffirmed his dedication to long-term solutions for Bengaluru’s infrastructure challenges, stating that he approaches the responsibility with “humility and determination.” He assured residents that the government is listening and acting with urgency to create a resilient city.
This initiative forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen the city's urban planning framework, ensure climate resilience, and safeguard public infrastructure in the face of increasing weather-related disruptions.
