CM Siddaramaiah's proposal for extension approved by railway board

Train expected to depart KSR Station at 5:45 am, reach Belagavi at 1:30 pm

Revised route anticipated to reduce travel time by two hours

The Vande Bharat Express, currently linking Bengaluru to Hubballi and Dharwad, is poised to extend its route to Belagavi following the approval of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s proposal by the railway board.

Although an official announcement is pending, reports indicate that the extension is slated for implementation by the end of November.

The successful doubling and full electrification of the Dharwad-Belagavi route eliminated previous obstacles for the railways.

In October, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah formally requested Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to extend the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat train to Belagavi. This appeal stemmed from the demands of Belagavi residents, urging the chief minister to advocate for the route extension with the central government.

If reports are accurate, the train is expected to depart from KSR Railway Station at 5:45 am, reaching Belagavi at 1:30 pm. Subsequently, it will depart from Belagavi at 2:00 pm, arriving at KSR Bengaluru at 10:10 pm.

The revised route is anticipated to reduce travel time from Bengaluru to Belagavi by two hours, clocking in at 7 hours and 45 minutes.

Conversely, the return journey is projected to take 8 hours and 10 minutes to cover the same distance.
