Allegations of dog meat being transported from Rajasthan to Bengaluru were made a few days back. Pro-Hindu organisations stopped vehicles with boxes of meat and expressed their anger.
Pro-Hindu organisations had alleged that the dog meat was later transported to many of the prominent hotels across Bengaluru. The organisations also demanded an investigation of the content in the boxes which they had stopped. The activists were reported to have acted based on a tip off they had received. Food Safety Officials reached the spot after a heated confrontation between the activists and those transporting meat.

The Home Minister of Karnataka, Dr G. Parameshwara who was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Koratagere constituency in the Tumakuru district from the Indian National Congress (INC) in the 2023 Vidhana Sabha Elections held in Karnataka provided a statement with regard to this incident. “A complaint has been filed unnecessarily and with bad intentions. The people involved transport meat from Rajasthan for their livelihood. The sale of meat occurs once every 7 days or once every 15 days. It is not dog meat. Reports indicate that it is goat’s meat. The report was published on 28th July,” Dr G. Parameshwara said in an interaction with news reporters.
