Bengaluru has become the fourth most sought-after city in the Asia-Pacific region for remote artificial intelligence (AI) roles, as global companies increasingly tap into India’s tech talent. Organizations from the US, UK, Germany, Singapore, Sweden, and Canada are hiring Indian professionals for full-time, contractual, and freelance positions, according to data from global HR firm Deel.

Remote hiring is proving cost-effective for these companies, significantly reducing expenses by eliminating immigration hurdles. The demand for AI talent in India is projected to more than double from 600,000 in 2022 to 1.25 million by 2027. The US, in particular, has witnessed a 135% year-on-year surge in hiring AI professionals from India in 2024, while Germany and Singapore have increased their remote recruitment efforts by 50%.
AI researchers and data scientists specializing in areas such as computer vision, machine learning, natural language processing, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), model training, and fine-tuning are among the most sought-after professionals. Entry-level roles, including prompt engineers, AI artists, and video editors, are also in high demand.
For Indian workers, remote AI jobs offer lucrative compensation, with an average annual pay of $25,000—almost double the $13,000 median salary for local roles. This demand surge has boosted platforms like Upwork, Appen, and Fiverr, as firms seek AI-skilled professionals capable of handling extensive data-driven projects requiring millions of records within tight deadlines.
