In the wake of an FSSAI investigation that flagged chicken kebabs as “unsafe” in six Empire Hotel branches in Bengaluru, the Empire Group has issued a formal clarification addressing the concerns. According to their statement, the issue was linked to the use of a synthetic food colouring agent, Sunset Yellow FCF, in their kebab marinade.

Although Sunset Yellow is a commercially available and FSSAI-approved colouring agent, the authority advised against its use in this context. Taking the feedback seriously, Empire confirmed that it has immediately banned the use of synthetic colours across all its outlets. The group has now switched entirely to natural food colours without compromising on its signature taste or quality.
Empire reassured its patrons that their kitchens maintain high standards of hygiene and safety, backed by a legacy of over 60 years in the food and hospitality industry. Emphasising transparency, the group reaffirmed its commitment to customer trust and food safety as core pillars of their operations.
