By 7:20 AM, steady rainfall was reported in Sadashivanagar and Seshadripuram, while light drizzles were observed in areas of Malleswaram, Jalahalli, Mathikere, Peenya, R.T. Nagar, Mahalakshmi Layout and Nandini Layout. The wet conditions are expected to slow down traffic, potentially causing minor delays for commuters during peak hours.
Many Bengaluru residents took to social media to share images and videos of the unexpected rain. One user commented, “Cool morning in Bengaluru today, many parts of South India are experiencing morning thunderstorms. Good chance of scattered light rain or thundershowers across SIK, central KA, Karavali and Malnad. NIK may see isolated thunderstorms.”
Another user humorously remarked, “Bengaluru weather is weathering,” as the city enjoyed the refreshing change. Meanwhile traffic authorities are preparing for possible congestion should the rain intensify later in the day.
More rain predicted in forecast
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru is set to experience a rainy spell for the next five days. From April 3 to April 7, the city will likely witness generally cloudy conditions with intermittent showers and thunderstorms. The rain is expected to intensify by Sunday, leading to more widespread rainfall, while conditions may shift to partly cloudy skies by Monday.
