According to police, Kumar, a carpenter, was frustrated with his son's disinterest in studies. An argument erupted after Tejas requested his father to repair his mobile phone, leading Kumar to lose control. Seized by anger, he reportedly beat Tejas with a cricket bat before slamming his head against a wall. In a heart-wrenching final remark, Kumar told his son, “It doesn’t matter to me whether you live or die.”

The boy suffered for several hours, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., without medical help. Only after he stopped breathing did the family take him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police discovered the incident after receiving a tip-off about the suspicious death. Upon arrival, they found the family preparing for Tejas’s last rites, with his bier ready. Authorities took custody of the body and ordered a post-mortem, which revealed severe internal head injuries and multiple body wounds.

The investigation continues as Bengaluru reels from the distressing case of parental violence and loss of young life.
