On the evening of May 13, 2025, Bengaluru experienced one of its heaviest downpours in recent memory, leading to widespread waterlogging and significant traffic disruptions across the city. The intense rainfall began during peak office hours, causing severe congestion as several arterial roads, particularly in east Bengaluru, became submerged. Areas such as Whitefield, Marathahalli, Banaswadi, and Hebbal were among the worst affected, with vehicles stranded in knee-deep water.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) deployed teams to drain the water from affected roads, while Bengaluru Traffic Police managed the gridlock and directed traffic flow in the worst-hit areas. Despite these efforts, many commuters faced prolonged delays, and several trees were uprooted due to the intensity of the rainfall, especially in Mahadevapura limits.
One of the most severely affected zones was Manyata Tech Park, which once again turned into a flood zone. Videos shared by tech workers on social media showed roads within the park submerged under several inches of water. The recurring issue triggered sharp reactions online, with some users sarcastically remarking, “Manyata Tech Park on sunny days and water park on rainy days.” The flooding was attributed to inadequate drainage infrastructure and encroachments on secondary storm water drains, such as the alleged encroachment by Karle Tech Park on a 33-ft. wide secondary rajakaluve that connects to the primary rajakaluve from Nagawara Lake.
In response to the ongoing weather conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Karnataka, including Bengaluru, warning of severe weather conditions until May 15. Residents and authorities are advised to stay cautious and take necessary precautions during this period.
