Bengaluru: Father adopted child found in bin 20 years back; alleges that BEML isn’t compensating him for son’s accidental death

20-year-old Varun Kumar was found in a bin when he was 3-days-old. He was spotted by Anjajirao. Anjajirao and his wife did not have children. Anjajirao informed the police about the child. Irresponsibility of the police implied that the kid would be transferred to an orphanage. This outcome was not something Anjajirao could digest. He raised the child as Varun Kumar. 

Varun finished an ITI course and reached Bengaluru for work related reasons in July 2023. He was working with the Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML). 

A delivery to Mumbai was due from Varun. Officials had arrived for the metro train inspection. The officials designated Varun to sanitation-related work.  Varun collapsed on account of electric shock while cleaning a bougie. He was shifted to the ESI Hospital in Indira Nagar. He however did not respond to treatment and passed away. Anjajirao has alleged that the officials decided to dispose of the body in a hurried manner. 

Anjajirao has claimed that Rs 3.20 lakh was paid to the family with a promise that a total amount of Rs 18 lakh will be given to them by means of compensation. However the BEML has allegedly failed to stick to their promise.
