Bengaluru police have arrested Techie Rakesh, who fled to Pune after allegedly murdering his wife, Gauri, and stuffing her body in a suitcase at their home in Dodda Kammanahalli. He was brought back to Bengaluru last night and produced before the Koramangala NGV court, where he was remanded to 14-day custody. The police have shifted him to Parappana Agrahara prison, with further investigation set to take place today.

The motive behind the brutal killing remains unclear, but Rakesh’s father, Rajendra Kedekar, has made shocking revelations. He stated that Gauri was his niece and that their families had opposed the marriage, which took place two years ago despite resistance. According to him, frequent domestic disputes had led to multiple complaints at the police station.
On March 26, Rakesh allegedly called his father and confessed to the crime, claiming Gauri had been harassing him. He also mentioned his intention to die by suicide. Kedekar immediately alerted Mumbai’s Meghwadi police and informed Gauri’s mother.
Rakesh attempted to consume cockroach poison while fleeing near the Karnataka-Maharashtra border. A passerby noticed his condition and got him admitted to a local hospital. The police later tracked him down and took him into custody. Further investigations are underway to determine the exact reason behind the murder.
