An instance of a distressed housewife having committed suicide has been reported from the Govindrajnagar police station limits. 26-year-old Aishwarya had committed suicide. She was found hanging from a fan in her home in Govindrajnagar on October 26th.  Five individuals including her husband Rajesh have been named in the First Information Report that has been filed pertaining to this case. Her father-in-law Giriyappa, sister-in-law Seetha, brother-in-law Vijay and brother-in-law’s wife Tasmeen have been arrested along with her husband.

Aishwarya was married to Rajesh for over five years. It was an arranged marriage. Aishwarya had pursued a Masters in business Administration (MBA) from the United States of America (USA). Rajesh’s family was involved in the business affairs of the famous Dairy Rich ice cream brand. One of Aishwarya’s relative Ravindra was an auditor in the same company. He was the brother-in-law of Aishwarya’s father Subramani. He played a key role in this marriage. Subsequently there was a conflict between Ravindra and Subramani over land. The police has speculated that the anger towards her father was reflected in the way the accused treated Aishwarya.

An accusation of character assassinaton has been made on the arrested family members. Constant demand of dowry was also being made. Unable to bear the torture, Aishwarya had been residing with her parents over the last three weeks. She committed suicide when no one else was around in the house. She left behind a note explaining her predicament in detail.

Aishwaya’s mother filed a complaint in the Govindraj Nagar Police Station. Four other individuals including Ravindra have been named in the FIR.
