  • Flu cases are on the rise across Bengaluru,
  • Significant surge in demand for vaccination
  • Clinics are administering over 10 flu shots daily

Flu cases are on the rise across the city, leading to a significant surge in vaccination demand. Clinics are now administering over 10 flu shots daily, marking a 30% increase in immunization rates over the past three years. The growing awareness of flu-related complications, seasonal outbreaks, and increased travel have contributed to this trend.

Hospitals have reported a sharp rise in voluntary flu vaccinations, with many individuals opting for immunization after witnessing the effects of the flu on friends and family. The inclusion of flu shots in pediatric vaccination schedules and strong recommendations from general practitioners, especially for older adults and those with respiratory conditions like asthma and COPD, have further driven demand.

The tetravalent influenza vaccine, which protects against four strains—H1N1, H3N2, and two Influenza B variants (Victoria and Yamagata)—is widely administered. Medical experts emphasize its role in reducing the severity of flu symptoms and preventing hospitalizations. The vaccine, which does not contain live virus, triggers an immune response, preparing the body to combat future infections.

With flu viruses constantly evolving, annual immunization is recommended to ensure protection against the latest strains.
