BBMP marshals to keep vigil at both inside and outside shopping complex

The Jayanagar Shopping Complex has become notably congested, rendering it virtually impossible for pedestrians to navigate through the footpaths and corridors.

According to estimates, approximately 300 individuals have encroached upon these public spaces, creating a chaotic environment for visitors and customers.

In response to this issue, BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath, accompanied by BBMP authorities and Jayanagar MLA CK Ramamurthy, conducted a site visit recently.

During the inspection, the Chief Commissioner observed that several shop owners had extended their businesses into the passages of the shopping complex, significantly inconveniencing the shoppers.

Expressing deep concern over the flagrant violation of public space, the Chief Commissioner immediately instructed the officials to undertake a thorough clearance of all encroachments and to identify those operating illegal businesses within the complex.

Furthermore, in a bid to enforce order, the Chief Commissioner tasked the BBMP Marshals with maintaining vigilance both inside and outside the shopping complex to prevent any further encroachments.

This move comes in the wake of the Karnataka High Court’s recent notice to the BBMP Chief Commissioner on October 26 for non-compliance with a 2020 court order to remove unauthorized shops from the upper basement of the Jayanagar Shopping Complex within a specified three-year period.
