Bengaluru is set to host the sixth edition of GAFX (Games, Animation, Visual FX) from February 27 to March 1 at Hotel Lalit Ashok. Organized by the Department of IT and BT, the event is expected to attract around 20,000 participants, reinforcing the city’s status as a leading hub for the gaming and animation industry in India.

With the Indian gaming sector expanding at a rapid pace, recording a 23% growth rate and generating $8.3 billion in revenue, Bengaluru has solidified its position as a key player in digital innovation. The city plays a crucial role in the animation industry, contributing to nearly 80% of the animation work for global productions.
The conference will highlight the latest advancements in immersive technology, including augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), which are driving transformation in the gaming sector. Karnataka has emerged as a major content creation hub, boasting more than 30 AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics) centres and attracting top-tier studios, including global giants like Pixar.
The state government aims to create over 50,000 new jobs in animation, gaming, and digital effects, further strengthening Bengaluru’s standing as an AVGC-XR powerhouse. With its expanding ecosystem and increasing investments in gaming technology, the city continues to be a focal point for industry professionals, investors, and creative talent.
