The Greater Bengaluru Development Authority (GBDA) has initiated the process of acquiring over 7,000 acres of land for the ambitious Bidadi Township Project. Estimated at ₹13,000 crore, the project aims to establish a modern township based on the work-live-play concept.
Operating under the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA), the GBDA issued a preliminary notification to acquire 7,293.44 acres across nine villages in Ramanagara and Harohalli taluks. The Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (HUDCO) has assured financial support for the initiative. Originally proposed in 2006, the project has gained traction under the current administration.
Compensation for landowners will be provided under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Act, 2013. A 60:40 compensation model has been proposed, offering cash payments and developed land. The GBDA has set a one-year deadline for financial settlements and a three-year period for developed land compensation. Digitization of over 4,000 property records aims to streamline the process.
The township will include industries, residential complexes, and recreational spaces, with 1,100 acres dedicated to parks. Plans include an international cricket stadium and Olympic-style sports facilities. An AI park and industry zones are also in development. The project will focus on rejuvenating Byramangala Lake and integrating water and sewage infrastructure. Connectivity will be enhanced through links to NICE Road and the proposed Satellite Town Ring Road.
