The task force would be more active in regions falling close to the forest and hilly areas
The task force would be responsible for capturing wild animals and ensuring that they would reintegrate into their habitat
The personnel in the force would be equipped with appropriate training for this task
Karnataka’s Forest and Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre has instructed the Forest Department to form a rapid response leopard task force for Bengaluru city. This was after another leopard was spotted along NICE road. Some days back, an intense operation had trapped the leopard that had created havoc in the Whitefield region. The leopard was caught in a region around Electronic City.
The task force would be more active in regions falling close to the forest and hilly areas. The task force would be responsible for capturing wild animals and ensuring that they would reintegrate into their habitat.
Two other task forces have been constituted in addition to the pre existing five Elephant Rapid Task Forces. One of them would be stationed in Bannerghatta. Ramanagara would be the region wherein another one of the task forces would operate. The rainfall across the state being lesser than expected has been stated as one of the reasons for the appearance of wild animals in urban areas.
The taskforce would have a special focus on hilly terrains with one task force being dispensed for every three districts. The personnel in the force would be equipped with appropriate training for this task. Mock drills would be conducted for this purpose.
