    Accused is out on bail

    Prabuddha's mother met with Siddaramaiah

Father of accused is a bar owner

The investigation pertaining to the death of Prabuddha has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) by the Karnataka State Government. Prabuddha’s mother Sowmya K.R is reported to have met Chief Minister (CM) Siddaramaiah with a request to this effect. A minor who was earlier suspected of having murder Prabuddha was released on bail. Sowmya is said to have alleged that the father of the minor, a bar owner, has close ties with the police. Allegations of lapses in the investigation and destruction of evidence are being made. Whether the CID investigation would provide justice for Prabuddha which her mother seeks remains to be seen.

The death was initially assumed to be a case of suicide. The post mortem report also did not conclusively present the case for murder. Prabuddha’s previous attempts at self harm also worked against Sowmya’s favour who was persistently raising doubts over the narrative of suicide.

A CCTV visual of a youngster in close proximity to the site of the death within a short period of time from when the death is said to have occurred proved to be the turning point in the case. The youngster was reported to have pleaded to Prabiddha over not telling his parents about the money he stole from her purse. She is said to have fallen during a tussle after which the murder was committed as a cover up.
