Allegations of fraud and dereliction of duty have surfaced against several doctors at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru, with a complaint filed with the Karnataka Lokayukta. The complaint reveals that some government doctors are logging into work at the hospital, but instead of fulfilling their duties, they are leaving to work in private hospitals.
Patients at Victoria Hospital have expressed their frustration over the absence of doctors, leading to protests. Despite government orders prohibiting doctors from working in private hospitals while on government duty, some doctors appear to be bypassing the rules. They reportedly log in for their shifts at the government hospital, only to leave and serve in private healthcare facilities.
The matter was brought to the attention of the Karnataka Lokayukta, which took the complaint seriously and launched an investigation. The Lokayukta has prepared a report and is expected to submit it to the government soon.
The investigation points to several doctors in key positions, including Dr. Kesavamurthy, Director of Nephro-Urology, Dr. Pradeep, Head of Anaesthesia, Dr. Sridhar, Associate Professor, and Dr. Kishan, Dr. Shivakumar, and Dr. Srinivas, all of whom work in the Nephro-Urology department.
The Lokayukta has recommended action against those found guilty of neglecting their duties and violating government orders. Authorities are under pressure to address these serious concerns and restore trust in the public healthcare system.
