The President of India Droupadi Murmu presented the Swachh Survekshan awards 2023 in New Delhi in an event conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. There were several categories based on which the awards were presented. Surat and Indore shared Rank 1 in the category of All India Clean City. 

Bengaluru ranked 125 among 446 cities in the category of population above 1 lakh in the category of All India Clean City. Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar was full of praise for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike on this occasion. “It is a matter of great pride that the BBMP has performed extremely well in many prominent categories of Swachh Sarvekshan-2023, bagging  125th rank out of 446 cities with a population above 1 lakh. Our Bengaluru citizens and the officials & workers of BBMP deserve all the accolades for this  accomplishment. BBMP also ranks as the 3rd cleanest city in Karnataka, and for the first time ever, Bengaluru has been given the topmost rank in the sanitation survey, apart from attaining Water Plus certification. Continuing its excellent work, BBMP has performed well under Service Level Progress, and Citizens Voice categories, setting a new benchmark for good governance. May this golden run continue & set newer standards for governance & public service in the coming years,” he stated in a post on Facebook.
