Karnataka joined the global community in celebrating the 11th International Yoga Day with a vibrant and large-scale event organized at Vidhana Soudha, led by the Department of AYUSH. The event witnessed participation from thousands of yoga practitioners, members of various yoga organizations, government officials, students, and the general public.

Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao inaugurated the event with a compelling introductory address. He emphasized the importance of yoga in enhancing the physical and mental well-being of the youth. The event also marked the beginning of yoga programs across over 5,000 schools and health centers in all districts and taluks of the state.
The highlight of the celebrations was the large-scale yoga demonstration by thousands of practitioners on the Vidhana Soudha premises. The program also reflected the government's commitment to integrating yoga into public health. Plans are underway to establish yoga centers at district, taluk, and community health centers, aimed at introducing yoga to patients and their families.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot addressed the gathering in Kannada, warmly welcoming everyone. He lauded yoga as a vital tool for controlling both body and mind and praised the Karnataka government for its efforts in organizing such a significant event. “Yoga brings discipline, health, and harmony. I have practiced yoga since childhood and continue to do so,” he shared.
Additionally, under the ‘Green Yoga’ initiative, a plan to plant 1 lakh saplings in collaboration with the Forest Department was announced. Discussions are also underway to declare Mysuru as the official Yoga District of Karnataka.
