A tense dispute erupted at the Bandemahakali Temple between priest Shashikumar and devotee Ramesh over the issue of granting temple passes. Ramesh, a resident of Chamarajpet and employed at a local garage, allegedly used abusive language towards Shashikumar after being denied passes for his friends to visit the temple.

According to sources, the conflict escalated last Saturday when Shashikumar reportedly visited Ramesh’s residence near Chamarajpet, leading to a heated verbal confrontation. It is claimed that Ramesh, in frustration, accused the priest of denying the temple passes, while Shashikumar allegedly responded with offensive language. The dispute soon spiraled into accusations of threats and physical violence.
Ramesh alleges that he was forcibly taken and assaulted, leading him to consider lodging a complaint. However, so far, no formal complaint has been filed by Ramesh. In contrast, Shashikumar has proactively approached the Kempegowdanagar police station and filed a complaint stating that Ramesh insulted him with abusive language and threatened him.
The situation stems from the long-standing practice at Bandemahakali Temple where passes are issued to devotees seeking closer access or special privileges during rituals. Tensions arose as Ramesh’s requests were repeatedly denied by Shashikumar, sparking frustration.
As of now, the police have acknowledged receiving a complaint from Shashikumar, while no official statement or complaint has been filed by Ramesh. Authorities are currently reviewing the incident, and further action will be determined based on the ongoing investigation and any evidence of misconduct or threats.
