Bengaluru witnessed a deluge on Friday evening as heavy rains lashed several parts of the city, throwing normal life out of gear. Localities like Bharathi Nagar were worst hit, with drainage water entering residential homes, leaving families scrambling for safety. Water-logging turned streets into streams across major areas, including JC Road, KR Market, Town Hall, Corporation Circle, Shantinagar, Majestic, Jayanagar, Wilson Garden, Mysore Road, MG Road, Mekhri Circle, Shivajinagar, and even near the Vidhana Soudha.

In Bharathi Nagar, residents reported sewage-mixed rainwater flooding homes and roads, leading to chaos and health hazards. Tata Nagar in Batarayanapura also saw water levels rise alarmingly on the roads, forcing autorickshaws and cars to wade through chest-deep stretches.

As the evening progressed, thunder and lightning accompanied the heavy downpour, marking a fierce return of rains. Public transport was severely impacted as vehicles stalled in waterlogged zones. Many commuters were left stranded as buses and autos struggled through submerged roads.

Citizens voiced concern over poor civic preparedness, with many pointing to ineffective drainage systems and lack of timely desilting. Authorities are yet to issue a detailed response or plan of action.

With more rains predicted in the coming days, Bengalureans brace for continued disruptions in the tech city now battling nature’s fury.
