An inter-state cannabis dealer has been apprehended. This is due to a proactive approach from the Hebbagodi Police Station. Hebbagodi lies on the outskirts of the Bengaluru city.
The apprehended individual has been identified as 36-year-old Sudipta Kumar Panda belonging to Orissa. 5 Kgs of weed have been seized from Sudipta. Sudipta was staying in Madapatna which is located close to Jigani. He laid out granite for a livelihood.
He would transport weed from Orissa via trains. The trade would take place on the backside of the D-Mart located in Bommasandra. His customers were college students and employees in the domain of Information Technology (IT) and BioTechnology (BT).
Acting on the basis of reliable information, the Hebbagodi police managed to nab Sudipta. He was arrested with weed. A complaint has been filed in the Hebbagodi Police Station.
The Narcotics and Psychotropic Substance Act classifies cannabis as a hard drug and mandates a punishment of 6 months and a fine of Rs 10,000 if found in small quantities.
