Bengaluru, notorious for its traffic congestion, may soon see a reprieve thanks to innovative solutions from two mobility companies, Tummoc and Namma Yatri. These companies have partnered with the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to implement cutting-edge ideas aimed at easing daily commutes across the city’s extensive transit network.

The two firms were declared winners of the ‘Enroute: A Mobility-as-a-Service Challenge’ on August 22, a competition aimed at enhancing public transportation in Bengaluru. The challenge was organized by Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI), WRI India, and Villgro, focusing on finding practical digital tools to streamline the city’s transit systems.
Tummoc, a multi-modal connectivity and ticketing app, promises to revolutionize how Bengaluru’s residents navigate the city. The platform will integrate journey planning, real-time data, and ticketing into a single application, allowing users to effortlessly plan their trips, check bus and metro schedules, and purchase tickets—all within one interface.
Namma Yatri, a ride-hailing app, simplifies the booking process with a unified QR code system. This innovation enables users to book their entire journey, including last-mile connections, with a single scan, making commuting more efficient and less stressful.
These initiatives are poised to significantly enhance user experience and improve public transportation, offering much-needed relief to Bengaluru’s overburdened commuters.
