In May 2022 ACB conducted a raid in his residence
Zameer had also requested a stay order on the investigations which were being conducted by the ACB
High Court judge M. Nagaprassana did not entertain this request
Minister of Housing and Minority Welfare Zameer Ahmed Khan is facing a setback on account of the complaint filed against him with regard to disproportionate assets. The High Court dismissed a petition in relation to the case.
In May 2022, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a raid in his residence. A First information Report (FIR) was also registered after the raid. It was noted that his unaccounted assets stretched up to an amount of Rs 80.44 crore. This was determined to be more than 20 times his accounted assets.
Zameer Ahmed had approached the case to quash proceedings on the grounds that no preliminary inquiry was conducted, no source report was drawn and there was no permission from the Competent Authority to register the crime against him. High Court judge M. Nagaprassana did not entertain this request.
He had also requested a stay order on the investigations which were being conducted by the ACB. This too was not granted by the court. Zameer Ahmed later approached the Supreme Court over the matter. The hearing is still pending in the Supreme Court. “In the light of the pendency of the petition before the Apex Court in a challenge to the refusal of interim stay and an interim stay granted by the Apex Court, I deem it appropriate to suspend the operation of this order for a period of 30 days,” the court order mentioned.
