In a unique and powerful protest, residents of Bengaluru’s Mahadevapura assembly constituency raised their voices—literally—against deteriorating infrastructure. Known as one of the city's highest tax-paying constituencies, Mahadevapura is grappling with neglected roads, stagnant drains, and rising health concerns, sparking growing frustration among locals.

The protest took the form of a satirical song, beautifully composed yet sharply critical of civic apathy. With lyrics that resonated deeply, citizens hoped to catch the attention of Mahadevapura MLA and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Protesters wore black and white T-shirts with graphics highlighting the area’s crumbling roads, hazardous potholes, and dust-laden air.
Demonstrators decorated potholes with rangoli, symbolizing their enduring presence. They sarcastically demanded the government stop collecting taxes for a few years—promising to repair their roads themselves if left unchecked.
Residents cited severe health issues caused by dust, stagnant rainwater, and poor drainage. During monsoons, roads turn into muddy pools; in summer, they’re dust traps. Vehicle users, especially school vans, struggle daily.
With many injuries and disease outbreaks blamed on civic neglect, locals used satire as a last-resort weapon—hoping that their lyrical protest would be heard by those in power. Their message was clear: “We pay tax, not for cracks, not for chaos.”
