The Amruthahalli Police Station faced a raid by the Human Rights Commission over allegations of illegal detention of a man suspected of theft. The raid was conducted at 6 AM on February 10th. The man detained has been identified as Aslam. Aslam was brought in from Mumbai by the police. His family members were not informed of his arrest. He has been under the custody of the Amruthahalli Police for over 10 days. The Human Rights Commission acted on a complaint filed by his family members.
Aslam worked in a hotel in Mumbai. The police arrested Aslam on February 1st on the basis of a warrant they procured from the court. However the allegations on the police are that his arrest was not registered anywhere nor were his family members informed about his arrest. Upon having received a complaint from his family members, the Human Rights Commission under the lead of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Sudhir M.Hegde conducted a raid on the Amruthahalli Police Station. The Human Rights Commission has marked his detention as illegal. Aslam was allegedly not produced before a court after his arrest. The inspector and other officials associated with the Amruthahalli Police Station are being investigated by the Human Rights Commission.
