Padmaja and her husband, Harish Kumar, both originally from Srinivaspur in Karnataka, were engineering graduates who had relocated to Bengaluru for employment. While Padmaja was working with a private company, Harish had recently left his job. The couple were parents to two young children and were reportedly experiencing ongoing marital discord marked by frequent arguments.

According to police sources, the fatal confrontation began over a disagreement related to Padmaja’s outing for shopping. The verbal spat escalated into physical violence. In a moment of uncontrolled aggression, Harish is alleged to have strangled Padmaja and then forced her to the floor. He reportedly applied pressure to her neck using his foot, leading to her death.

Following the incident, Harish was taken into custody and is currently undergoing interrogation. Authorities have registered a case under the applicable provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation remains active as officials work to gather further evidence.

The couple’s children, left traumatized by the incident, have been placed in the care of extended family members. This case has once again highlighted the urgent need to address domestic violence and mental health challenges in strained relationships.
