India has taken a major step in advancing its air combat capabilities with the public unveiling of a full-scale engineering model of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) at Aero India 2025. Displayed at the India Pavilion, this marks the first official demonstration of the country’s indigenous fifth-generation stealth fighter, reinforcing its commitment to self-reliance in defence technology.

Developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), the AMCA is a twin-engine, multi-role stealth fighter designed for the Indian Air Force (IAF). Weighing 25 tons, the aircraft integrates cutting-edge features such as an AI-powered Electronic Pilot for advanced decision-making, Netcentric Warfare Systems for real-time combat coordination, an Internal Weapon Bay for stealth enhancement, and predictive maintenance through Integrated Vehicle Health Management.

A key highlight is AMCA’s deep AI integration, allowing it to enhance situational awareness, identify threats, and collaborate seamlessly with UAVs. With these capabilities, India aims to position itself among global leaders in next-generation air combat technology.

Aero India 2025 has also witnessed strong US participation, with top officials and over two dozen American exhibitors showcasing advanced aircraft like the F-16, F-35, KC-135 Stratotanker, and B-1 bomber. Adding a cultural touch, the US Air Force Band of the Pacific will perform at the event and Christ University in Bengaluru.
