Bengaluru witnessed raids by the Income Tax (IT) Department in the early hours of 7th January. Certain private companies were targeted during the raids. Speculations that the raids are related to tax evasion charges are making rounds. More than 8 places across Bengaluru were subject to raids.
Officials conducted raids in the “Jain Heights” establishment in J.C Road in Bengaluru. More than 20 companies have their offices in the “Jain Heights” building. More than 10 companies among them were investigated by the IT Department. The raids are reported to have started right at 6 A.M in the morning.
An entrepreneur from Andhra Pradesh is a suspect for the IT Department. His residence in 8th Block Jayanagar was also searched by the IT Department. 16 IT officials in 4 Innova cars arrived at his residence at 7 AM.
Documents were scrutinised by the officials.
The suspect has been identified as Vamshi. Vamshi is a contractor of roads. His wife is a doctor. Some of his contracts have come under the IT Department’s radar over suspicions of tax evasion.
