In a tribute to the late philanthropist Doddanna Shettar, the Karnataka government has officially renamed the historic Kalasipalya Bus Stand after him. The naming honours Shettar’s notable contribution of donating the land on which the bus stand stands today. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy inaugurated the new nameplate in a formal ceremony by cutting the ribbon and unveiling the signage.

As part of the renaming, new display boards featuring “Janopakari Doddanna Shettar Kalasipalya Bus Stand” have also been installed on BMTC buses. Minister Reddy flagged off a BMTC bus bearing the updated signage as a mark of respect.

Meanwhile, addressing the upcoming transport workers' strike scheduled for August 5, Minister Reddy assured that the government is already in discussion on the issue. He confirmed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been briefed, and a decision will be taken soon after further consultations. Responding to queries about ESMA (Essential Services Maintenance Act), he clarified that the law is already in effect and is renewed every six months.

On the issue of EVM tampering, Minister Reddy launched a scathing attack on the BJP, alleging that the party has been misusing Electronic Voting Machines since 2011. He highlighted that countries like Germany, Japan, the US, and the UK do not use EVMs due to concerns over credibility. While asserting that EVMs were introduced under a Congress-led government, he said the Congress never anticipated such misuse.
