Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has garnered significant recognition at the Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Conference and Awards held in Ontario, California, securing seven awards. This achievement marks a milestone as KIA becomes the first Indian airport to receive such an extensive range of accolades at the global event.

Among the notable honors, the newly opened 080 Domestic Lounge at Terminal 2 won the ‘Airport Lounge of the Year’ award. The lounge stands out for its innovative design, which celebrates Karnataka’s cultural heritage while offering modern amenities for travelers. The recognition underscores the lounge’s exceptional quality and immersive experience.
Additionally, KIA earned the Humanitarian Award for its collaboration with Mitti Cafe. This partnership is celebrated for creating the first Airport Mitti Cafes, which provide meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, reflecting the airport’s commitment to social inclusivity and quality service.
Kenneth Guldbjerg, Chief Commercial Officer at Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), expressed pride in the airport’s achievements. He emphasized that the 080 Lounge offers a unique blend of Karnataka’s cultural elements with contemporary comfort, enhancing the travel experience.
The accolades come on the heels of Terminal 2’s recent opening, which boosts KIA’s capacity to handle 25 million passengers annually. As India’s third busiest airport, KIA managed over 37.5 million passengers in the fiscal year 2023-2024.
