A heated dispute in Bengaluru’s Chamarajpet has led to police intervention after an elderly couple accused their tenant of unpaid dues and arrogance. The tenant, in turn, has alleged misconduct by the landlords, escalating the conflict.

According to the tenant, a rent agreement was signed with a ₹5 lakh advance and a monthly rent of ₹50,000. However, shortly after moving into the property, issues with the water and electricity supply reportedly emerged. Despite raising the concerns with the house owner, Geeta, the tenant claims that no action was taken to resolve the problems.

The tenant stated that he withheld rent as a response to the unresolved issues, suggesting that the landlords deduct the unpaid rent from the advance. Matters took a turn when Geeta allegedly locked the house and gate while the tenant and his family were away, leaving them stranded outside.

The landlords argue that the tenant failed to pay a ₹21,000 electricity bill and refused to settle pending dues. The tenant, however, filed a complaint at the Chamarajpet Police Station, resulting in an FIR.

The tenant has demanded access to the house and an explanation from the landlords. The police are currently investigating the matter to mediate between the two parties and determine the next steps.
