Bengaluru, renowned as the Silicon Valley of India, has solidified its position as the primary hub for startup employment across the nation, a recent study by Foundit (formerly Monster APAC & ME) reveals.

The Foundit Insights Tracker (FIT) scrutinized data from April 2023 to April 2024, illuminating the ever-evolving landscape of startup careers in India.

According to the report, Bengaluru commands a substantial 31% share of startup job opportunities, surpassing Delhi with 23% and Mumbai with 18%. In contrast, Hyderabad and Chennai lag behind, each securing only 5% of the market. Despite maintaining its lead, Bengaluru witnessed a marginal decline of 2% in startup hiring compared to the previous year.

The study also notes a significant drop in remote work opportunities, plummeting from 8% in 2023 to a mere 3% in 2024, indicating a shift in employment trends within the startup sphere.

Fresh talent with 0 to 3 years of experience is increasingly in demand, constituting 53% of all job openings. Sekhar Garisa, CEO of Foundit, underlined the significance of this trend, urging young professionals to acquire relevant skills beyond their formal education.

While startups lean towards hiring freshers, the overall job market shows only a marginal 1% increase in demand for this demographic, with seasoned professionals witnessing notable increases in hiring rates.
