According to sources, Chitra promised to lease out a house to multiple people, collecting hefty amounts from each. She showed them the building and convinced them to pay large sums in advance without providing any proper agreement. Victims claim that she collected Rs 3 lakhs from one family, Rs 4 lakhs from another, and Rs 2 lakhs from a third, under the guise of securing the lease. However, after receiving the money, she allegedly failed to hand over the property or refund the deposits, despite repeated requests.

Chitra reportedly used abusive language and even resorted to physical threats when questioned about the money. While she initially assured the victims that she would return the amounts within two months, years have gone by, and the victims are still awaiting refunds.

Outraged families, who had trusted Chitra and even believed her mother’s assurances, have now filed complaints against her at the Subramanyapura Police Station. A Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) has been registered. The victims claim that Chitra used her mother’s reputation to gain their trust and then betrayed them, resulting in huge financial losses.

This fraudulent activity has led to widespread anger in the locality, with multiple families now accusing Chitra of running a lease money scam and warning others to be cautious before handing over money without formal agreements.
