A shocking incident of deception and betrayal has come to light in Bengaluru, where a 22-year-old woman has accused a man of luring her into a relationship under the pretext of marriage and then fleeing abroad. The accused, identified as Bharat, a software engineer, first approached the young woman through Instagram, where he initiated contact by commenting on a photo of her car, sparking a casual conversation that soon blossomed into a friendship and then romance.

Despite belonging to different castes, Bharat convinced the woman that caste differences wouldn’t matter in their relationship. Gaining the trust of both families, he promised marriage, leading to an engagement and even a pre-wedding photoshoot. The woman’s family spent lavishly on the arrangements, hoping for a grand wedding. However, as the wedding date approached, Bharat disappeared, allegedly fleeing the country.

According to the complaint filed by the victim at Channammanakere Achukattu Police Station, Bharat exploited her emotionally and physically under the pretense of marriage. He allegedly used caste-based excuses to justify breaking off the relationship and absconding. An FIR has been registered against Bharat and three others for their involvement in the deception.

Police have initiated an investigation to trace Bharat’s whereabouts and bring justice to the victim. The incident has sparked outrage, as it highlights the growing misuse of trust and love on social media platforms, especially targeting young, impressionable individuals.
