  • India’s Operation Sindhoor destroyed major terror bases, killing over 100 terrorists
  • Bengaluru-made kamikaze drones played a central role in the attack
  • Mission highlighted India’s growing strength in indigenous, advanced drone warfare

India launched a powerful counter-terror operation Operation Sindhoor in response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack. In a coordinated effort by the Indian Army and Air Force, precision missile strikes were carried out on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The intense 25-minute strike demolished 9 key terrorist bunkers and hit 21 additional locations.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reported that more than 100 terrorists were killed in the operation. A major highlight of the mission was the deployment of indigenous kamikaze drones, suicide drones developed in Bengaluru. These drones, introduced into the Indian military in 2021, can carry a 5 kg warhead and are capable of flying up to 1000 kilometers. They are designed to loiter in enemy zones, lock onto targets, and self-destruct for maximum impact.

These Made-in-Bengaluru kamikaze drones were developed by an Indian private company in collaboration with an Israeli firm, though the production is entirely indigenous. Their success marks a significant advancement in India’s unmanned warfare capabilities, with similar drones having proven their effectiveness in the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas conflicts.
