Mall of Asia has been served a notice by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). A reported change from the sketch for construction provided by BBMP is the rationale for the notice. They have also been served a notice from the Commercial Tax Department, Pollution Control Board and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

An area shown as the parking lot was allegedly later converted into a party area. The decibel levels from the mall have reportedly exceeded 90 decibels. This had apparently caused disturbance among the apartments situated around the mall. The issuance of an Occupancy Certificate (OC) despite evident shortcomings in the construction will be probed. BBMP Commissioner Tushar Girinath has promised to take a proactive approach with regard to this case. This initiative has been taken after a High Court order directing a probe.

Recently, the vehicles of visitors of the mall being parked on the road caused a commotion with regard to the piling up of traffic on the main road beside the mall. The police intervened by issuing a prohibitory order that restricted public access until January 15th “to prevent annoyance and disturbance to public tranquillity and provide a safe environment for traffic and public at large” under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
