A 26-year-old man has been arrested by Bengaluru Police after a disturbing social media trend came to light, where women were being secretly filmed in public spaces without their consent. The arrest came following a viral Instagram video posted by a woman who exposed the page and identified herself in one of the clips, claiming she had never given permission to be recorded.

The social media account, which had garnered over 10,000 followers, featured videos allegedly taken in popular areas like Church Street and Koramangala, under the pretense of showing “street scenes.” However, many clips appeared to specifically target women who looked visibly uncomfortable or unaware of being filmed.
The woman said she had reported the video and requested its removal, but received no response. Instead, she was met with vulgar messages as the video gained traction online. She then took to Instagram to speak out, calling the act a serious violation of privacy and consent.
After tagging @blrcitypolice and @cybercrimecid in her post, the issue quickly drew the attention of law enforcement. The accused, identified as Gurudeep Singh, was arrested for operating the page and posting non-consensual content.

Following the arrest, the woman publicly thanked the police, stating, “You’ve helped us restore our faith in the system — truly grateful for your support.”
Even Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah had expressed his displeasure over such incidents and had assured action on X.
It pains me deeply to see women being secretly filmed and harassed in public spaces, with such videos circulated online at the cost of women’s dignity. This is not the Karnataka we stand for.
