The incident occurred in the Thalaghattapura region of Bengaluru. A man was stopped by the traffic police. Upon closer introspection of his vehicle number it came to the notice of the Bengaluru traffic police that he has indulged in 40 traffic violations. A receipt was produced for all these violations and the bill was as long as the man’s height. The net charge for all these violations amounted to Rs 12,000. He was asked to pay the fine on the spot. The man obliged.
Later, a photo was also clicked with him alongside the bill and the traffic police who had generated the bill. This photo was posted on X formerly known as twitter by the Thalaghattapura traffic police’s official twitter account @tgpuratraffic. The post had become viral. It earned 5178 impressions, 64 likes and 11 reposts.

However it was equally well received by all users of the platform. While some saw the funny side of the story and egged him on to reach a century others highlighted several concerns.
“And yet there is no regret on his face. BTP should really up their game of putting hefty fines and as regularly as possible. People should be scared to commit the mistake,” a use commented.
“Public humiliation is a good thing in some cases. Why wasn't his DL revoked way before 40? Did he consent for this picture to be on Twitter? I assure you there are better ways to do this,” another user wrote.
