The negligence of BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) officials has resulted in a man named Chandan being tied to the hospital bed for more than a month. Chandan was struck by a falling tree while he was enroute to his office on a bike. This caused damage in his spine. Apart from a damaged health, he has also incurred a costly bill whose costs extends to more than Rs 8 lakh. Chandan’s treatment took place in 2 hospitals. Insurance claims are being used to settle the bill. BBMP officials have been pressuring Chandan to complete his payment even in this dire circumstance.

The visuals of the tree falling on Chandan were captured on CCTV cameras. A huge branch of a tree fell on Chandan. The incident occurred on March 7th on the Richmond Road. Apart from the damage on his spine, Chandan also sustained grievous injuries on his neck. The tree was situated inside the compound of a private school. The branches of the tree extended its way onto the main road. Despite the potential risk, the BBMP officials did not take steps to clear the branches. A case has been filed against the BBMP officials and the private school. An FIR has been filed in the Ashok Nagar Police Station.
