According to eyewitnesses, the man was seen walking calmly along the road, holding a large machete (kodali) in his hand while dressed in what appeared to be a lungi-like garment and odd attire not typical for the area. The incident was captured on video by some locals, and clips quickly went viral on social media, further fuelling panic in the neighbourhood.
Residents say that many passersby were startled by the sight, fearing the man might pose a threat to public safety. Women and children, in particular, avoided stepping out until the situation was brought under control.
HSR Layout Police rushed to the spot as soon as they received the complaint and have since launched a search to identify and locate the man. Officials said they are examining CCTV footage from the area to trace his movements and confirm if there was any malicious intent behind his actions.
Police have assured the public that there is no need for panic at this stage but urged anyone with information about the unidentified individual to come forward. Locals have also requested increased patrolling in the area to ensure safety and prevent such incidents in the future.
