The victim, Roshni Moses M, also 22 and a resident of the same locality as Sanjay in North Bengaluru, was found dead in a secluded forest area near Pratap Nagar in South Goa on Monday evening. According to the police, her throat had been slit.

Initial investigations suggest that the couple had recently arrived in Goa with the intention of tying the knot. However, a serious disagreement reportedly arose between the two, resulting in Roshni’s murder. After allegedly killing her, Sanjay is said to have dumped her body in the forest before escaping back to Bengaluru.

Superintendent of Police (South Goa), Tikam Singh Verma, who visited the crime scene, confirmed that the murder appeared to have stemmed from a relationship dispute involving a marriage proposal. He called it a "crime of passion that escalated fatally."

Acting on leads and intelligence, the police were able to trace Sanjay's whereabouts and apprehended him within 24 hours of discovering Roshni’s body. He is currently in custody, and police have initiated further investigations to uncover the full motive and timeline of events.
